Our Mission

Our Mission is to provide our clients with an expansion of their horizon of understanding. Exploring choice theory, potentials, and the flourishing of the human spirit through a multitude of mediums including Phenomenology and Existential therapy.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

— Viktor Frankl

OEI Therapy: A Gentle Path to Integration

At Ryan Bathgate Counselling Services, we offer OEI (Observed & Experiential Integration) Therapy as part of our trauma-informed approach to healing. OEI is a powerful method designed to help clients process emotional distress by working directly with how experiences are stored in the brain and body.

OEI uses techniques like eye positioning, bilateral stimulation, and focused awareness to access and integrate emotional material that may feel stuck or overwhelming. These methods allow clients to gently release the intensity of painful memories, shift emotional patterns, and restore a sense of calm and clarity — often without needing to verbalize every detail.

This approach is especially helpful for:

  • Trauma survivors, including those with complex or developmental trauma

  • Individuals experiencing anxiety, panic, or emotional dysregulation

  • Clients who feel “stuck” in traditional talk therapy

  • Those seeking a body-aware, neurologically grounded path to healing

OEI complements our commitment to Talk Therapy and Clinical Traumatology, offering a holistic and client-centered experience. Wheth you're navigating recent challenges or long-standing wounds, OEI provides a gentle, effective way to reconnect with yourself and move forward.he

Clinical Traumatology: Specialized Care for Trauma Recovery

As a Clinical Traumatologist, I am trained in approaches that help people heal from the emotional, psychological, and physiological effects of trauma. This designation reflects advanced education in how trauma impacts the brain and body, as well as specialized skills for supporting clients through recovery in a safe, structured, and evidence‑informed way.

Clinical traumatology focuses on understanding how overwhelming experiences can shape a person’s nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. Through this lens, therapy becomes a process of helping clients regain stability, process difficult memories, and rebuild a sense of safety and connection.

This specialization supports people who are navigating:

  • Post‑traumatic stress and complex trauma

  • Childhood or developmental trauma

  • Grief, loss, and sudden life disruptions

  • Emotional dysregulation, hypervigilance, or shutdown

  • The long-term effects of chronic stress or adversity

Clinical traumatology complements the other modalities in my practice, including Talk Therapy and OEI Therapy, allowing me to tailor treatment to each client’s needs. Whether someone is beginning their healing journey or working through deeper layers of past experiences, this training helps create a grounded, compassionate, and effective therapeutic environment.
